Description: – An interesting silver overlay vase made in the silver studios of Gebruder Deyhle using a recognised design by Friedrich Spahr. This vase is an interesting example for collectors because it shows the beginning of the end of silver overlay popularity and production. The vase has the original Deyhle 1000/1000 silver mark intact to the base.
Size & Weight: – The vase is 29cm tall and 10cm across the rim and weighs in at 920g
Condition: – As one can expect, there are some minor surface scratches to the silver on the base rim following 50 years of love, care & attention to the vase. The turquoise body is in good order.
Photography: - Please look at the images as they show a true status of this delightful vase. There are some light reflections seen following the photography and are not discolourations to the glaze.
History & Marks:– Frequently, items made by Gebrüder Deyhle used a plastic sticker label as a trade mark, habitually these have been taken off after purchase. Luckily, this vase still has it in tact.
Gebrüder Deyhle bought out Friedrich Spahr's business and designs from his wife in 1959. She had run the business for many years following the loss during the war. Deyhle ceased using The Friedrich Spahr trading Name in 1982 and the whole business was closed in 1990.
Gebrüder Deyhle, Founded in Schwäbisch Gmünd in 1820 by brothers Christian Wilhelm & Gottlob Karl Deyhle. The company was one of the oldest and largest silverware factories in Gmünd until it closed at the end of the 1990s.
To date this vase, we can say the Hutschenreuther porcelain marks relate to 1970. Therefore, I believe this piece would be from the early 1970s
